Progress, the return!

I can’t believe it is 15 months since my last blog post. Covid is still making it difficult, but if all turns out well I am planning a proper book launch in Solva at Easter next year. I am going for Plan A, being there in person and developing a Plan B just in case, so it is wait and see.

We had our first break in Cornwall in October. When we were last there in Ruby our old camper we had to cut it short as the a horrid overnight gale made our life very difficult being high up facing the sea at St Agnes. It was a prelude to a forecasted humdinger of a storm. We up ship and headed home.

We stayed this time on a holiday complex near Hayle. We had a fantastic and busy time, lots of visits and sights. Of course we went to see the seals at Godrevy. You are really high on the cliff and there is a hand rail, as much to reduce disturbance of the seals as to make it a safe spot to view. We counted about 30 on the beach, adults and pups. We stayed a little while and continued walking along the coast enjoying the views and stopped to chat to a lovely couple who recommended ‘iwalk Cornwall’, an app that you purchase for each circular walk which includes detailed directions and information such as history and landscape. We didn’t go too far and returned via a small detour passing the seal beach again which was deserted though there were a couple in the shallows. Then we had the excitement of a work crew from Trinity House being taken off the Godrevy Lighthouse island by helicopter. It took about three trips.

Our trip has given me the push to get going again with good time to sort things out. Refreshing my blog, web site and social media. I am going to have to be inventive now there are restrictions on cold calling marketing and data privacy will need some work too. Dashed up to write between the split Masterchef sessions. I’m pleased to be back to the blog. Just read that last bit back and permitted myself a little supressed giggle.a

Other news; I have the next Solva story written and two or three more ideas to follow. Oh and sci-fi sort of fairy tale about two thirds done. Totally different from Solva. My friends now say I am an author and I guess they may be right. Who am I to argue.

Progress update

I was hoping to have a proper book launch, but Covid has put pay to that, so it will all happen online. It has diverted me from adding to this site. There is plenty waiting to go on here. In the meantime I have the frustrating task of setting up my online shop. Foolishly, depending…

Solva, the Village and Harbour

Solva Harbour is a delight, situated close to St David’s in the northern corner of St Brides Bay, it is the only really sheltered haven between the ferry port of Goodick & Fishguard in the North of Pembrokeshire and south to the safety of Milford Haven. Both Solva and Milford Haven are examples of drowned…

Feedback Comments

A couple of comments from when the story was just a manuscript. “I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed reading about Solva. Truly, I found it a lovely story, one I would have enjoyed telling my own children.” Becky Blake, illustrator. “OMG I love it , I was imagining being in bed as a…
